In this position you will have the opportunity to use your extensive knowledge and expertise to help us develop, implement and maintain innovative Emergency Department practices that will meet the current and future needs of Lakeridge Health.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As a member of the Emergency (ER) team the ER Services Psychiatric RN will report to the ER Manager and utilize nursing processes to provide a positive patient care experience in accordance with relevant legislations/standards while meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the nursing profession. The ER Services Psychiatric RN will oversee the care of psychiatric patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team within the ER. The ER Services Psychiatric RN will have the unique opportunity to gain ER experience coupled with psychiatric nursing and will maintain nursing records and other related duties as assigned.The ER RN Development program will provide funding to the ER Services Psychiatric RN that includes paid tuition for the Critical Care Nursing program Certificate and reimbursement of salary while completing ACLS, PALS and TNCC Certification with a commitment of 24 months working in the ED as a permanent employee.QUALIFICATIONS:* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);* Current B.C.L.S.;* Demonstrated commitment to maintaining Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO;* 3-5 years' experience in an Acute Mental Health and/or Emergency Department setting required;* Proven EKG interpretation, cardiac monitoring, trauma nursing skills, an asset; * I.V.
