ONAREGISTERED NURSEPACUCORPORATE SURGICAL PROGRAMCASUAL PART TIME The current schedule is 4 & 8 hour Days/Evenings/On-Call Shifts (subject to change)Lakeridge Health BowmanvilleONA-1800001120DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:To use nursing process in providing patient care, participate and function as a member of the Surgical Program Health Care Team, Multidisciplinary Team and the Nursing Team corporate wide as an RN in PACU, Day Surgery, Pre Surgical Screening and the Eye Centre. As an individual practitioner, the nurse will maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice.QUALIFICATIONS:* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);* Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CON;* Current BCLS certificate required;* Minimum two years recent Post Anaesthesia Care experience required; * Must have IV Start Certification; Cardiac monitoring course and/or Critical Care Certificate Course, Patient Assessment Course and demonstrated knowledge and ability to care for ventilated patients;* Able to communicate information in an understandable, relevant and accurate manner;* Ability to work independently on occasional shifts including on call;* Proven organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and teaching skills;* Sound judgement, excellent observation and patient assessment skills, tact and empathy;* Effective written and verbal communication skills;* Able to perform appropriately in emergency situations; * Ability to assess and provide related health education to patients and/or families and the health care team;* Ability to assume a leadership/preceptor role;* Ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships using knowledge, tact, and empathy in a patient centered care environment;* Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning in areas of patient assessment, patient education, leadership and related clinical specialties;* Demonstrated ability to adapt to change in patient care assignments, patient care units and hospital sites within the Surgical Program; * Ability to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids;* Ability to wear personal protective equipment as regulated;* B.Sc.N preferred;* Canadian Peri-anesthesia Nursing Certification or Canadian Critical Care Nursing Certification preferred* ACLS certificate preferred;* Membership in RNAO and other professional nursing associations preferred;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Courage and Trust;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety; and, * Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining the same standard.
