Duties include: ordering supplies for the Orthopaedic Clinic; maintaining equipment on the traction carts in the Surgical Suite, SPD and 6M; educating patients and their families on cast care with follow up assessments; participating in CQI; other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:* Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologist Certification;* Current registration with the CSOT;* Current B.C.L.S. Ontario Heart Foundation Standards;* Demonstrated understanding of anatomical structures and relationships with one another and the ability to describe orthopaedic conditions;* Ability to apply, adjust and remove all common orthopaedic devices;* Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and application of skin and skeletal traction;* Knowledge of aseptic techniques;* Ability to interpret simple fractures and dislocations on x-ray film;* Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety, and participates in regular in-service education in this area;* Demonstrated effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills;* Demonstrated ability to use office equipment including computers, intercoms, telephones and fax machines;* Physically capable of performing all aspects of the Registered Orthopaedic Technologist's duties; * Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Courage and Trust;* Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area; and* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.SALARY: $28.45 - $32.76 per hourCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
