Working directly with Senior Director, the Manager will ensure the integration and coordination of stakeholder relations, community building and digital/social media activities to build relationships with key partners, increase awareness of the services provided and strengthen the reputation of Lakeridge Health a provincial leader in health care delivery. Leveraging a strong background in strategic communications and issues management, a successful candidate will develop and implement robust public relations plans to facilitate external communications and position the image Lakeridge Health within the community and province. The candidate will also serve as a primary media contact, responding to a variety of local and national media requests including television, radio and print. In addition, our ideal candidate is a strategic and innovative professional with strong leadership skills who is results oriented, and has had significant success in developing and directing public relations plans utilizing new and traditional media platforms across various channels and media types, is comfortable working with the media, government and senior leaders This positions reports directly to the Senior Director, Strategic Communications Responsibilities:" Develop and maintain a comprehensive, integrated communication plan including public relations, stakeholder engagement, brand management and tradition and online marketing across a diverse range of platforms" Plan, develop and implement government engagement strategies" Develop and oversee a range of public relations and community relations activities designed to promote Lakeridge Health, including public event support, presentations, special project management, collateral and background materials, and other public relations materials in all formats " Direct the management of communications with the media and develops key messages, and acts as media spokesperson" Lead development and execute effective digital and social media strategies including web site development, usability and monitoring " Writes and/or supervises the writing of media/public materials such as news releases, speeches, background documents, presentations as well as articles, social media and online content and other documents intended to inform the media and various audiences of Lakeridge Health prioritiesQualifications: " Undergraduate Degree in Communications, Journalism, marketing or related discipline." 5-7 years progressive experience in hospital public relations, media relations, crisis communications and issues management." Highly strategic with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work with singular focus and little direction." Excellent communications, interpersonal and exemplary verbal and writing skills." Strong team player and ability to work effectively in team environments." High level of administrative skills, including critical thinking, strategic planning research, project management, special events planning and coordination, time management and problem-solving skills. " Must have an excellent ability to manage multiple and complex demands simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. " Demonstrated high-level of customer service and interpersonal skills needed, including ability to work with diverse individuals and groups (i.e. front-line staff, physicians, Senior Management team, volunteers, Foundation, Board of Directors, community residents)." Strong media relations background, with exemplary understanding of and experience with various media (local and national)." Knowledge of communications and community relations in a community health setting." Strong understanding of government structures and legislation (as they relate to the health care industry). " Experience in building an online media platform, as well as a solid understanding of electronic and traditional production processes and passionate about digital communications and new technologies" Must have an excellent ability to comprehend and translate medical and technical terminology into appropriate grade level language suitable for lay audiences.
