Non-UnionLAKERIDGE HEALTHINFECTION CONTROL PROFESSIONALINFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROLTemporary Full Time (1 year)8 hour days, On-CallLakeridge Health Oshawa - travel between sites is requiredUNEX-1600001223This position is open to all qualified candidates commencing October 21, 2016 and closing at 11:59 pm on October 28, 2016.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As the Infection Control Professional (ICP) you are responsible for assisting in implementing and maintaining an effective and progressive Infection Prevention and Control Program with patient safety at the core.The ICP role is defined and evaluated in accordance with the Lakeridge vision, mission and values, and the following core competencies:* Identification of infectious disease processes* Surveillance and epidemiologic investigations* Preventing/controlling the transmission of infectious agents* Management and communication* Education and researchThe IPC will continue to develop competency of practice with front line staff and leaders in Infection prevention and control practices (including but not limited to, risk assessment, risk reduction and infection prevention; and performance improvement and implementation strategies(identification of need, teamwork, tools and methods, implementation, measuring success)QUALIFICATIONS:* BScN, or equivalent under graduate degree in health sciences;* proven experience in an acute care hospital setting, acute hospital preferred;* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, current B.C.L.S.; or other professional college;* Certification through the Certification Board of Infection Control required * knowledgeable in microbiology, infectious diseases, epidemiology and statistical analysis;* motivated, self-starter with initiative and strong management, organizational and problem-solving and communication skills;* knowledge and application of the principles of adult education;* knowledge of computer databases and proficiency with Microsoft office applications;* experience and knowledge in clinical research and infection control issues as they relate to patients and health care workers; outbreak investigations;* annual influenza and other vaccination as may be required, or in the case of documented medical allergy, commitment to take antiviral/prophylactic therapy for exposures/duration of outbreaks;* vehicle required for cross site travel; Technology (information technology, surveillance technology, Meditech, proficiency with Outlook email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)* demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area.SALARY: $44.416 - 48.391 per hourCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Health's policies and procedures.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
