Underlining strategic and operational capabilities, your passion and enthusiasm for providing excellence every moment, every day is what drives you.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:" Leads the development, implementation and maintenance of programs and policies to support Lakeridge Health's and the Safety Portfolio's mandate;" Ensures program elements support the principles of disability management including early intervention, safe and successful return to work, consistent administrative practices, ongoing legislative compliance and appropriate and productive workplace accommodations;" Ensures quality programs are in place and aligned with corporate quality initiatives, including developing, implementing and communicating comprehensive performance indicators to demonstrate quality and efficiency;" Maintains responsibility for hiring, performance management and appraisals of all portfolio staff;" Directs the activities of all departmental members ensuring that roles and responsibilities support program requirements such as the appropriate management of ill/injured employees, and encouraging staff to achieve their potential;" Maintains responsibility for managing portfolio budgets;" Liaises with and develops effective working relationships with relevant associations and educational institutions to keep up to date on current and emerging health care legislation, developments and trends and assess their impact on the hospital;" Act as a professional resource to senior management on all issues related to Occupational Health and Safety and advises on legislative issues relevant to the interest of the Hospital;" Acts as a professional resource in legal and labour relations matters related to grievances and arbitration hearings;" Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention's of the Act, in a timely manner.QUALIFICATIONS:" Completion of Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences/Occupational Health or recognized equivalent required; " Masters degree in health sciences/occupational health or recognized equivalent;" Designation as a Health/Safety Specialist with a recognized professional organization e.g. CIH, CRSP, ROH;" Expert knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WSIB Act, and Ontario Human Rights Code;" Significant relevant progressive experience leading a Health and Safety portfolio within a unionized environment; " Direct experience in a Hospital environment is an asset; " Demonstrated experience in the preparation of policy, budgets, hiring and staff performance management;" Demonstrated management and staff development skills, with emphasis on coaching, mentoring and leadership and effective change management skills; " Exceptional leadership, relationship management, facilitation, negotiation, conflict management and problem-solving skills;" Superior communication skills combined with excellent analytical and conceptual skills; " Ability to create a collaborative working environment which fosters high morale and effective staff relationships and participation; " Superior creativity, analytical skills and the ability to prioritize and manage a high volume and varied workload;" Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service in this area; " Proven attendance with capability of maintaining the same standard.
