JOB SUMMARY:The Senior Systems Consultant's role is to provide ongoing support and project work including designing, building, configuring, deploying and maintaining computerized systems. The Senior Systems Consultant will be responsible for coordination of workload and tasks for Systems Consultants and provide input to performance appraisals. The Senior Systems Consultant provides direction, support and education to the Systems Consultants in their daily work. This individual participates in and leads user groups and acts as a resource and IT expert for the Systems Consultants. The Senior Systems Consultant collaborates with physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team on application issues including analyzing, designing, testing and implementing new systems and technology. They provide solutions to the organization to obtain the maximum benefit of hardware and software technology and ensuring the reliability and availability of these systems. The Senior Systems Consultant also participates in planning of technology roadmaps and capital needs.This individual provides hardware configuration and software application leadership and consulting across the organization. The Senior Systems Consultant works closely with members of the hospital technical and applications teams and other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support innovative and cost-effective IT solutions for the organization.The Senior Systems Consultant offers support and assists the Manager of Technical Services as required.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, organizes, leads and controls the activities of the data center managed by the Information Technology division consistent with Lakeridge Health Corporation's leadership and management competencies in the following key areas:(1) Operational Management- Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems- Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies- Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records- Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.- Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems to integrate with the enterprise IT systems- Liaise with applications consultants, system consultants, and network administrators to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems- Direct and/or provide guidance to systems consultants- Provide education and training to systems consultants- Develops and/or reviews policies/procedures relating to hardware systems deployed within the IT environment(2) Acquisition & Deployment- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of IT systems, including overall data center functions, Virtual environments, servers, PCs, operating systems, storage area networks and associated hardware.- Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and its systems- Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions- Recommend, schedule and perform system improvements and upgrades.- Collaborate with applications consultants, system consultants, developers and vendors in the testing of new software programs and applications- Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new system under deployment or consideration to ensure compatibility with existing systems and infrastructure- Assist in the development of technical specifications and evaluations of RFPs, RFIs, RFQs- Conduct research on emerging technologies to determine synergy and benefits within the Lakeridge environment- Recommend, schedule and perform system improvements and upgrades(3) Strategy & Planning- Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations- Assist other systems consultants in conceptualizing and deploying new systems and applications into the enterprise environment- Plan phases of the IT development life cycle for a variety of projects- Assist in the preparation and documentation of system requirements and specifications- Oversee reports and documentation related to network and systems operations- Assist in development and implementation of functional policies and procedures- Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations- Provides input and guidance to ensure that systems meet business requirements and system goals, fulfill end-user requirements and identify and resolve systems issues- Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of system usage best practices to Systems Consultants and management;- Participate in the development of IT strategic plans, roadmaps and capital panning in collaboration with the Manager of Technical SystemsOther Duties- Develop and support a professional and collegial culture of education and personal growth and responsibility.- Foster a collaborative and positive relationship with system consultants and all members of the IT department. - Other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS: - University degree or college diploma in computer science or related field and/or 5 or more years work experience in a hospital Information Technology environment- Proven experience in IT system design, deployment and maintenance- Extensive experience with enterprise applications including both Meditech and non-Meditech applications- Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Microsoft Server 2003, Microsoft Server 2008 R3, Windows 7, Windows XP- Extensive application support experience with Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, Meditech Magic, Meditech Client Server, VMware, Citrix- Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards- Certification and knowledge of ITIL v3 is an asset- Hands on experience working in integrated development environments- Excellent project management skills- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws- Superior verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language- The capacity to nurture, mentor and direct others- Ability to present and offer education sessions to a group of systems consultants- Strong customer service orientation- Highly self-motivated and directed- Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies- Strong interpersonal skills- Ability to conduct research into software-related and issues and products- Keen attention to detail- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentSALARY: $40.916 -
