Patient Care SpecialistStatus: Full TimeFile Number: UN.EX-1500000346Location: All Lakeridge Health SitesWage Schedule: $46.971 - $51.173 per hourProgram: Respiratory TherapyDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to the Director of Emergency, Critical Care and Central East Prehospital Care Program, the Respiratory Patient Care Specialist will encourage, promote and facilitate continuous learning for Respiratory Therapy staff to ensure constant improvement and evidence based processes in clinical practice. The Patient Care Specialist will develop/design, plan and deliver educational programs /activities which will facilitate the development of Respiratory Therapy staff and clinical team.The Patient Care Specialist works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary heath care team and all departments and services throughout Lakeridge Health to ensure the efficient delivery of care, ensure the facilitation of numerous departmental activities to achieve a well-organized flow of patients, care, and staff. In the absence of the Patient Care Manager, the Patient Care Specialist will provide coverage.QUALIFICATIONS:" Baccalaureate degree in health related discipline, Master degree preferred;" current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapy Ontario;" current B.C.L.S; A.C.L.S. and N.R.P.; " current PALS preferred; " proven significant recent clinical experience;" knowledge of the MOHLTC's Assistive Devices Program and Home Oxygen Program and current legislation regarding oxygen prescription and delivery;" knowledge of the principles of adult education and teaching/learning principles;" knowledge of hospital health care functions and current trends in nursing and allied health care;" proven organizational and prioritization skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;" knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, related best practice guidelines;" demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills;" demonstrated problem and critical-thinking skills;" effective leadership and decision-making skills and ability to take a leadership role in promoting a shared responsibility for professional development;" proven conflict-resolution skills;" must be an accomplished change agent;" proven project management and problem solving skills and demonstrated excellence in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation skills;" demonstrates efficient and effective use of resources;" demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; " proven good attendance with the capability of maintaining this same standard.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Health's policies and procedures.Lakeridge Health thanks all applicants, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
