Location: Oshawa, Ajax/Pickering


Position Summary

As a Registered Nurse at Lakeridge Health you will be part of a dedicated team of nurses who have a strong commitment to providing excellent care to our patients - every moment, every day - and who embody our values of compassion, innovation, courage and trust. You will collaborate with all members of the healthcare team to provide optimum, holistic care to patients with diverse healthcare needs. As a Registered Nurse you will use your strong critical thinking and leadership skills in providing high quality care that meets the physical and psychosocial needs of patients while maintaining competence and professionalism relevant to current nursing practice.

Qualifications

" Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (or eligibility for registration)
" current BCLS and NRP certification
" significant, recent medical/surgical paediatric nursing experience
" evidence of working towards or completion of a post RN Paediatric Nursing Course
" NICU - significant skill and experience in delivering premier neonatal intensive care in a Level II Advanced or Level III environment including: ventilation concepts for the neonate, central line management, PICC line management, certification achieve in PALS and NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E program, breastfeeding support, developmental care concepts, managing potentially toxic medication administration, delivery of care in a family centred care environment and full understanding of community agencies and discharge planning for families
" NICU - Level III NICU course to be completed within two years of hire
" BScN and PALS (preferred)
" physically able to perform the essential duties of the position
" demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by CNO
" proven organizational, prioritization, critical thinking, problem solving and teaching skills
" excellent communication and interpersonal skills which include sound judgement, exceptional observation skills, compassion and empathy and the ability to foster good public relations and working relationships in a family-centred care environment
" demonstrated ability to assume a leadership and supervisory role and to perform appropriately in emergency situations.

Conditions of Employment

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit).
