In this position you will have the opportunity to use your extensive knowledge and expertise to help develop, implement and maintain an innovative and strategic approach to the Critical Care program that will meet the current and future needs of Lakeridge Health. This position will play a key role in providing high quality support to Lakeridge Health client groups to achieve our vision and the objectives of Lakeridge Health's strategic direction.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to the Director of Critical Care and Respiratory Services Program, the Patient Care Manager (PCM) is responsible for the leadership and management of the 14 bed Intensive Care Unit at Lakeridge Health Ajax/Pickering; ensuring patient care services are delivered with high quality, safety and consistency on a daily basis. While working collaboratively with all members of the health care team, the PCM will use effective planning, budgeting and problem-solving skills to ensure: the development of critical care unit processes; the management of staff and to support business goals including operational efficiencies and optimize staffing and interdisciplinary team functioning. The PCM will facilitate and support the implementation of evidence based practice to achieve excellence in high quality delivery of patient and family centered care across the organization.The PCM will have a personal drive and the need to achieve results by working to accomplish critical care unit outcomes by setting goals and priorities that maximize the use of resources and have the ability to inspire others to work toward a common goal by engaging and empowering staff.QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor degree in a Regulated Health Discipline;* Master's degree or current enrollment in a Master's program (preferred);* Current registration with a regulatory College (CNO preferred);* Current B.C.L.S.;* Management experience, preferably in a multi-site hospital environment; advanced clinical preparation, coupled with considerable clinical experience in Critical Care programs;* A keen interest and recent process re-engineering, planning and implementing experience;* Demonstrated understanding of hospital funding models and CCSO standards and metric accountabilities;* Proven track record of achieving results that improve the organization and inspire confidence and commitment;* Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and create a high performance culture through change management strategies that facilitates growth and development;* Demonstrated knowledge of hospital functions and current trends in health care;* Proven knowledge of and ability to work with Collective Agreements and Labour Relations;* Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and related best practice guidelines;* Proven ability to problem-solve and critically analyze issues;* Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; and* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this areaAt Lakeridge Health, we value inclusion and diversity.
