JOB SUMMARY:
The Compensation Specialist represents the business needs in the planning and development of compensation, oversees the job evaluation program and acts as lead on compensation matters. The Compensation Specialist manages compensation plans to meet regulatory compliance and governance/audit requirements, consulting with legal resources and staying abreast of developing legislation and its potential impact. The Compensation Specialist also Partners in the design of effective compensation-related communications to managers and employees within the Compensation and Benefits framework.
Duties and Responsibilities Summary :
" Working with Managers to collect job information for job evaluation of roles within the organization as well as evaluating scoring and Pay Equity Analysis.
" Maintains job descriptions for all union and non-union roles;
" Acts as an HR lead for Pay Equity Process, all administration related to CUPE job evaluation process and pay equity analysis and chair of the job evaluation committee;
" Conducts annual review of all non-union jobs to ensure compensation structure is externally competitive, internally equitable and pay equity compliant
" Prepares and analyzes annual report and potential changes to salary ranges to maintain a competitive and equitable structure
" Participates in all OHA compensation surveys for non-union, management and cost of living review
" Maintain and audit step increase process, enter all annual step increases
" Prepare new salary grades for cost of living and unionized contractual increases and implements the increases for employees
" Prepare and administrate merit matrix for annual merit based pay program & prepares and implements increases and letters for annual merit based pay program
" Acts as the point of contact for bi-annual Kellar award process, evaluates and administers all eligible increases
QUALIFICATIONS:
" A Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, CHRP or a related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience (required);
" Demonstrated related experience working with databases, spreadsheets, and related reports preferably in a healthcare environment;
" Broad understanding of HR system functionality including but not limited to payroll, compensation and benefits;
" Advanced computer software proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel including the ability to manipulate spreadsheets and merge Word and Excel documents and download data from an HRIS to spreadsheet applications;
" Knowledge/experience with Virtuo HR and Meditech Payroll/Personnel software;
" Knowledge/Experience in compensation administration and benchmarking;
" Knowledge/Experience with building and maintaining new compensation structures;
" Experience with Total Rewards including bonus, merit and incentive programs;
" Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage related projects;
" Demonstrated ability to prepare statistical and descriptive reports;
" Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including an aptitude for related systems problem-solving; and
" Good interpersonal, oral communication and presentation skills.
" Must have satisfactory performance record & proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;
