Together, this team enables the collection, organization, standardization & protection of key health information to promote internal & provincial analyses of quality, performance, planning & to inform resource allocations & operating plans.As Lakeridge Health advances our analytics capacity, we recognize the foundational need to ensure our data is structured & managed efficiently and systematically to enable responsive, consistent & accurate solutions using our suite of reporting tools, business intelligence, and machine learning systems. With the recent implementation of a new Clinical Information System, the availability of rich data will be growing exponentially in a short time. As such, our team is seeking a Data Engineer to help us achieve our vision. The successful candidate will join a team of Decision Support Consultants who are responsible for supporting all areas of the hospital with data and analytic solutions. The team locates and manipulates data, generates methodologies, performs analyses, produces reports/dashboards/summaries & offers consultation and interpretation of results to all areas of Lakeridge Health (including all Clinical Services & Programs, Human Resources, Quality & Risk, Capital Planning, Strategy, etc.).The Data Engineer's primary responsibilities will include the end-to-end design, construction & maintenance of data solutions that enable analytics services. and controlling these assets. This position will not be responsible for the broader enterprise data architecture; but will have specific accountabilities in data solutions for analytics delivery. The successful candidate will interact with a diverse group of experts, including those in Information Technology, Analytics, Coding, Clinical Informatics, as well as our clinicians and administration teams.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Develop new & improve existing data processing routines, including automating where possible* Translate data requirements into detailed designs and pipeline architecture, ensuring proper documentation of methodologies* Drive thought leadership and define best practices around data extraction, modeling, consumption & governance* As a subject matter expert, provide guidance on data solutions to improve existing workflows & solve complex corporate analytics problems* Prepare data summaries for various reports, including production of basic statistics (descriptive statistics, group comparisons, basic regressions)* Produce key reports, dashboards and other solutions for internal clients where primary work effort is data integration, manipulation and presentation* Assist with data harvesting and integration from external data sources (including publicly reported information)* Manage and build ETL processes, extraction & integration of data from various data sources, including medical records* Create custom data models for BI reporting and conduct knowledge transfer sessions with team members* Oversee data quality monitoring, including processing, management and cleaning of data flows leveraged for analytics purposes* Participate and contribute to the integration of advanced analytics services into operations (for example, machine-learning, predictive analytics, NLP, etc.)* Attend relevant meetings, courses or workshops as needed.QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics or related degree is required.* 2 years of experience working in a data engineer, data manager, data analyst, or equivalent role.* Good working knowledge of clinical information systems, or experience applying skillset in a clinical setting* Knowledge and experience with Epic health information system and data/reporting-related modules (Cogito, Clarity, Caboodle) is an asset. Active certification or ability to achieve certification on these modules is required (Must be eligible to travel to the United States, if applicable);* Excellent proficiency with Microsoft applications (particularly Excel & PowerBI)* Knowledge of a statistical programming language (Python, R, SQL) a definite asset* Knowledge of Microsoft Enterprise solution (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)* Knowledge of FHIR/HL7 indexing a definite asset* Demonstrated creativity and latitude in problem solving.
