Supported by a talented team of more than 7,700 physicians, nurses, health care professionals and volunteers across five hospital sites and multiple off-site locations, Lakeridge Health is working with partners to create an integrated health system that supports people to achieve their best health.We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and experienced leader with vision, initiative, and strategic thinking to join the Lakeridge Health Team as Senior Director, Mental Health and Addictions.POSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Health System Executive, Regional and Community Care, the Senior Director, Mental Health and Addictions is responsible for leading a comprehensive multi-year, mental health and addictions plan to guide the future of care, support, and service within Durham Region. As a visionary leader, the Senior Director will inspire and achieve results by focusing on implementation of initiatives within the multi-year plan that advance integration and collaboration with the goal of enhanced coordination of services in both community and acute care settings, smoother transitions, and faster connections along the continuum of care. Using a collaborative team approach, the Senior Director will ensure the advancement of an integrated mental health and addictions system that provides access to the right care and support at the right time, and one that results in the best outcomes for clients. Building on Lakeridge Health's expertise through our Mental Health and Pinewood addictions programs and leveraging our recent integration with Durham Mental Health Services (DMHS), the largest community integration in recent history, we have a unique opportunity to truly build a connected system of mental health and addictions.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Translate Lakeridge Health's strategic directions and priorities into program-specific goals and objectives that enable the Program to meet and exceed evidence based, best practice standards and regulatory requirements.* As part of a robust co-leadership model, partner with the Chief of Psychiatry and Medical Director to enhance services, and foster a culture of high engagement, cohesiveness, and efficiency as a collaborative dyad. * Develop and implement new, innovative and expanded programs and services that address the needs of marginalized and vulnerable populations to enhance and improve access, outcomes, and quality of life. * Work with partners, clients, patients, and community members in novel ways to advance an integrated mental health and addictions system that ensures a more coordinated and connected system of care. * Implement, measure and monitor a comprehensive multi-year, mental health and addictions plan and work with partners to continuously advance integration and quality improvement.* Foster an environment that enables the Mental Health Program to meet and exceed the expectations of clients, their families and communities we serve.* Build team cohesion by leading change management and disseminating and promoting an understanding of the mission, vision and values of Lakeridge Health.* Establish and maintain external and internal partnerships to support communication and involvement of key stakeholders in program development considerations.* Work closely with community partners and stakeholders to understand the gaps in service and opportunities for change.* Develop the Program's strategic human resources plan including short and long term needs and succession planning and promote the development of leadership skills and capabilities within the Mental Health and Addictions Program.* Take a lead role in creating a culture of safety, quality and service in alignment with Lakeridge Health's strategic plan.* Fulfil all accountabilities as the Officer in Charge of a Psychiatric Facility under the Mental Health Act to ensure legal compliance and the protection of patient rights.QUALIFICATIONS:* A Master's Degree in a related discipline;* Registration with a professional college in Ontario in an applicable discipline;* 10+ years leadership experience in the field of mental health and addictions;* Experience in Mental Health in both hospital and community environment (preferred)* Strong knowledge of health system design and an understanding of priority issues currently facing mental health and addictions; * Significant experience in implementation of clinical initiatives within the healthcare and mental health and addictions sectors;* A proven track record of fostering a positive relationship with service providers;* A proven track record of achieving results that improve the organization and inspire confidence and commitment;* Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and create a high performance culture that facilitates growth and development;* Proven ability to inspire others to work toward common goals by increasingly engaging and empowering them;* Proven ability to critically analyze issues and utilize data to drive decisions;* Proven management skills including financial, human resources, quality improvement, change management, evaluation and planning;* Exceptional negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills;* Must have satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and;* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Health's policies and procedures.Lakeridge Health thanks all applicants, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
