ONALAKERIDGE HEALTHREGISTERED NURSE PACUSURGICAL PROGRAMTEMPORARY PART TIME8 hour Days, Evenings,Weekend,On-Call Shifts (subject to change)Lakeridge Health Ajax/PickeringSalary: $33.56 - $48.05 per hourONA-2100001098DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to Manager of OR, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered care environment. Using an advanced level of nursing practice and excellent observation skills, the PACU nurse monitors post-operative patient progress while recovering from local, regional, or general anesthesia.QUALIFICATIONS:* Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario; * Certified by Heart and Stroke Canada to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level;* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred;* PALS (Paediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) Provider course preferred* Cardiac monitoring course (Coronary 1 & 2) and/or Critical Care Certificate Course, and/or PACU course required* 2 years of Recent (within 5 years) experience in PACU and/or Critical Care and/or Acute Care Setting (ie. ED, Cath Lab);* Demonstrated knowledge and ability to care for advanced airway patients on ventilators;* Demonstrated knowledge and ability to care for patients with invasive hemodynamic monitoring (ie. Artline, Central Line);* Understanding of surgical procedures and immediate post-operative care;* Surgical experience preferred;* Patient Assessment course required;*Certification in peripheral IV insertion required;* Demonstrated and sound fundamental knowledge of critical care skills and concepts of Peri-operative care including cardiac monitoring, respiratory, and neurological signs; * Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations; * Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community; * Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgment; * Ability to perform the essential duties of the position;* Must have a satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public; * Demonstrated understanding of and, commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and, * Demonstrated pattern of good attendance with the ability to maintain this same standard.
