As a visionary leader, the Director, Surgery provides strategic direction and leadership to the Surgical Program in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Lakeridge Health. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, Patient Services, and working in partnership with the Medical Director, the Director, Surgery orchestrates the development, management and evaluation of administrative and operational activities across four Lakeridge Health sites including Surgical Inpatient units, Endoscopy Services, the Medical Device Re-processing Department, Materials Management and multiple Ambulatory Clinics.KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:* Translate Lakeridge Health's strategic directions and priorities into program-specific goals and objectives that enable the Program to meet and exceed evidence based, best practice standards and regulatory requirements.* Develop and implement new, innovative or expanded programs and services, including development of business plans in alignment with the priorities and plans of Lakeridge Health. * Foster an environment that enables the Surgical Program to meet and exceed the expectations of patients, their families and communities we serve.* Build team cohesion by leading change management and disseminating and promoting an understanding of the mission, vision and values of Lakeridge Health.* Establish and maintain external and internal partnerships to support communication and involvement of key stakeholders in program development considerations.* Develop the Program's strategic human resources plan including short and long term needs and succession planning and promote the development of leadership skills and capabilities within the Surgical Program.* Work closely with Finance and Decision Support to explore revenue generating initiatives within the Program and to ensure efficient utilization of clinical and financial resources.* Partner with the Medical Director and various Physician Leaders, including Anesthesia, to enhance services, and foster a culture of high engagement, cohesiveness, and efficiency.* Take a lead role in creating a culture of safety, quality and service in alignment with Lakeridge Health's strategic plan.QUALIFICATIONS:* Masters prepared in requisite field of Health or Business Administration;* Certificate of registration in good standing from a healthcare regulatory college;* Membership in a Professional Association;* Progressive leadership experience in Surgery and Ambulatory Care;* Clinical experience in a relevant setting;* Strong clinical and administrative skills with experience in managing quality, risk and utilization;* Exceptional leadership skills with proven ability to coach, mentor and develop staff;* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create a collaborative, interprofessional working environment which fosters high morale and engagement and effective staff relationships and participation;* Superior communication, negotiation and facilitation skills;* Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing cost reduction and revenue generating initiatives;* Ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders across all levels of the organization;* Strong problem solving, critical thinking, analytical and conceptual skills;* Proven ability Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service in this area;CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Health's policies and procedures.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) .
