In this position you will have the opportunity to use your extensive knowledge and expertise to help us develop, implement and maintain innovative Electrical Skilled Trade practices that will meet the current and future needs of Lakeridge Health. POSITION DESCRIPTION:Reporting to the Manager Engineering, responsibilities of the Electrician include: installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems designed to provide heat, light, power for the facilities, trouble shooting and QA documentation. The Electrician will also participate in Safety and Quality Assurance related duties and ARC Flash program. The Electrician is responsible for emergency power systems which requires a sound understanding of diesel emergency power, high voltage switchgear and related maintenance work such as testing batteries, checking oil, water, filters and verifying the transfer of fuel. Repair of a variety of industrial/commercial equipment including refrigerators, AC equipment, ventilation systems, lab equipment, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, VFD speed drives and UPS systems. The Electrician is responsible for testing and maintenance of automatic transfer switches, power distribution systems and transformers. The Electrician is responsible for lighting throughout the hospital by assuring that all areas of the Hospital are illuminated to proper levels as well as, maintenance of critical communication systems to include Public Address, Nurse Call and Fire Alarms. The Electrician will repair domestic appliances such as dietary and environmental equipment and other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:* Inter-provincial Certificate of qualifications issued by the Province of Ontario in the Electrical Construction/Maintenance trade;* Electrical Construction/Maintenance Apprenticeship Certificate (309A);* Fire Alarm Technology Program and C. F.A.A. Certified; preferred;* Demonstrated electrical experience and thorough working knowledge in the electrical skilled trade;* Ability to install, troubleshoot, modify and repair equipment;* Comprehensive understanding of single line/CAD reading and interpretation, specifications for new installations and modifications and/or repairs & troubleshooting, electrical codes, standards, regulations (CSA, hydro) applicable to the electrical trades;* Strong knowledge of the various electronics and programmable controllers;* Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally to ensure solid client service working relationships;* Proficient computer software knowledge; * Physically capable of bending, stooping, crawling, climbing stairs, pushing and lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and demonstrated ability to differentiate colours;* Previous experience within a healthcare environment; preferred;* Must have satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork & Joy;* Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff, patient, environmental safety also participates in regular in-service education in this area; and* Proven good attendance record with ability to maintain this same standard.Standby and Call-backs:Applicants will be expected to be available to the hospital on a 24 hour a day rotating basis as determined by the site Manager. While you are on call you must be able to respond to the designated hospital within 30 minutes to respond to such issues as fire alarms, power failures, boilers and other building system troubles.
