CUPEINTERNAL JOB POSTING Vacancy: Relief Worker - GeneralPosting Dates: February 24th, 2021Starting Wage: $17.13/Hour, as of April 1, 2019Status: Casual (multiple positions available) Expected Start Date: ASAPHours: 7:00-15:00 15:00-23:00, or 23:00- 7:00Location: Residential Program - Durham Mental Health ServicesWorking Details:The Relief Worker will provide support to the residential program and its clients on a casual/relief basis. This position is hired on a 'relief' basis. Shifts may be nights, days or weekends depending on the need. Staff will be expected to work 2 Last Minute (48 hours notice) shifts a month and 3 stats a yearMinimum Qualifications:.* Diploma or degree from an accredited College or University in a Human Services field. * One year related work experience in a similar role. * Willing and able to work report to work various shifts schedules, with short notice. * An up-to-date first aid certificate.* Driver's License and access to an insured personal vehicle. Must provide proof of adequate insurance coverage on request.* A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check)Knowledge:* Knowledge of mental health, addiction and sexual abuse issues.* Basic knowledge of the major mental illnesses, and an understanding of the Mental Health Act, confidentiality, and the principles of client centred service delivery. * Knowledge of the principles of life skills training, focused problem solving and intervention strategies.Skills and Abilities:* Provide support to residents, modeling a positive attitude, utilizing affirmation and encouragement while integrating recovery concepts and client empowerment. * Provide education on a variety of issues relevant to the client group. Provide life skills training, conflict resolution, and advocacy. * Demonstrated reliability (attendance and punctuality), communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team member. * Must demonstrate a strong professional manner in dealing with clients, staff, families, and the public while being open, friendly, approachable, accepting and understanding. * Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
