ONAONALAKERIDGE HEALTHREGISTERED NURSE INPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH (3 West)MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTIONSREGULAR PART TIME Days/Nights/Weekend Schedule;8 & 12 Hour shifts (subject to change)LAKERIDGE HEALTH Ajax/ Pickering SALARY: $33.56 - $48.05 per hourONA-2000001737DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As a member of an interprofessional team, you will provide client-centred psychiatric and general nursing care and ensure the security and safety of the patients and maintain the CNO standards of nursing practice. You will be responsible for providing clinical care to patients on the inpatient mental health unit. Working within a primary nursing model, you will actively contribute to the treatment approach for the unit, perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate the interprofessional plan of client care.QUALIFICATIONS:*Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);*A current B.C.L.S. certificate is required*BScN an asset; *Mental Health/psychiatric nursing experience with individuals with mental illness and/or addictions is an asset*CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing is considered an asset*Demonstrated commitment to maintaining Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO;*Demonstrated excellent knowledge of, and experience in group theories and dynamics;**Demonstrated knowledge of Community Mental Health Resources;*Proven completion of Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviour Program;*Ability to conduct Mental Health Assessment with excellent interviewing and communication skills;*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop a therapeutic Nurse- Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse interprofessional team*Effective leadership, decision-making, organizational and problem solving skills are required*Demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behaviour*Ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary*Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset;*Must have satisfactory performance record;*Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;*Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and;*Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) .
